Memorial Walkway Project: Paving Stone Draw Winner
August 8, 2011
In June the Centennial Committee held a draw from a list of the first 100 people to purchase a paver stone for the Centennial Memorial Walkway.
The lucky winner of the draw was Esquimalt resident Allison Green, who won a second paving stone valued at $100.
Her original paving stone inscription was dedicated to her Mother, who passed away in 2002 in Ontario. Her additional winning paving stone will be dedicated to her Father, who is very much alive at the age of 90, and living in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Allison has been living in Esquimalt since 1978, a place close to her heart. “I feel very close to this community and I’m very happy to live here,” she said. “I wanted to be a part of the Memorial Walkway Project because I want to be a part of this wonderful celebration and bring my family into it as well.”
Allison was an early paving stone purchaser, finding out about the Memorial Walkway Project through an advertisement in the Parks and Recreation Department’s Active Living Guide.
“Once I decided to purchase the paver [Centennial Committee Co-Chair] Bruce Devitt was delightful to work with, helping me prepare my tribute text. ” said Allison.
Congratulations on your win Allison!
